Authenticity Guarantee

Every item we offer undergoes a detailed authentication process backed by years of expertise. No piece joins our collection unless we are certain of its authenticity.

How to Choose a Watch Box

Start with capacity and cushion size: the pillow diameter should suit the watch's case size and bracelet type, and the clasp and hinge should let the lid close fully. The interior lining should be soft enough not to mark the case or bracelet, while the outer shell should protect against knocks in daily use or travel. On maison-signed boxes, the fabric, stitching, interior label and serial details are the markers of authenticity, and the same details set the box's value on the pre-owned market. Capacity should follow how you actually use the box. A single-watch box suits a piece worn daily and set down at night, while a multi-slot box makes more sense for a growing collection. If you own several automatics you rarely wear, a winder is an alternative, though a mechanical watch takes no harm from being left still.

How a Watch Box Affects Value

An original box and papers make a measurable difference to a watch's pre-owned value; for discontinued references in particular, a full set attracts noticeably stronger demand than an example without its box. Keeping the original box, or completing an incomplete set, is therefore worth considering. Condition matters too: the interior cushions should hold their shape, the exterior should be free of deep scratches or deformation, and any keys, pillows and documents should be present.

Using and Caring for a Watch Box

Keep the box out of direct sunlight and in a low-humidity spot; leather and fabric coverings fade in the light and can develop mould in damp conditions. A soft dry cloth is enough for cleaning, and chemical cleaners are best avoided. Leaving an automatic watch still in its box for a long period does no harm to the movement: it simply stops, and is wound and set when you return to it. When placing watches on the cushions, make sure the bracelet is not pinched, or the clasp and links can be marked.
