A soft dry cloth is enough for cleaning, and chemical cleaners are best avoided. Leaving an automatic watch still in its box for a long period does no harm to the movement: it simply stops, and is wound and set when you return to it. When placing watches on the cushions, make sure the bracelet is not pinched, or the clasp and links can be marked.
